Health yoga also strengthens your musculoskeletal system. Taking care of our musculoskeletal system is very important for our mobility and internal organ protection. The musculoskeletal system is made up of our skeleton, bones and muscles. This system is what molds and holds the shapes of our bodies. Altogether, we have 350 bones as children and when we become adults, we only have 206 bones.

What happens? As we get older, our bones become joined together by our joints. Then our skeletal muscles, which only accounts for a third of the muscles that are found in our body, are controlled by the somatic nervous system. We have 640 muscles, which make up about 50 percent of our body’s weight. As you may have learned in biology, we have voluntary and involuntary muscles in our system, the musculoskeletal muscles are voluntary and the heart, lungs and some other internal organs are involuntary muscles because they move and act without us thinking about it.

Now, when it comes to health yoga, it can benefit our musculoskeletal system. For our muscles, health yoga can benefit the tense muscles and allow them to relax and move more easily, making physical activity simple.

For our skeleton, which is constantly working to preserve our framework, even when we’re standing still, yoga Asanas (poses) can be used to free our joints and relieve pressure on the cartilage. I used to have problems with my knees, and when I started to implement health yoga into my life, I noticed that they became more flexible and stronger. Your knees endure through standing, walking and running, so you can imagine what can happen to them over time. They are very important parts of the body and health yoga can help to bring them back to their youthful state.

Some people have problems with their neck because their upper back strength has gone to shreds. In order to rid yourself of neck pain, it is necessary to strengthen the upper back and gain back its flexibility. With a strong upper back, it will keep the strain off your neck. With yoga poses, you can achieve upper back strength and flexibility and rid your neck from agonizing pain. Good posture will also help to keep your spine straight, which can prevent spinal injuries that can be painful and risky, as spinal injuries can sometimes lead to paralysis.

I can’t stress enough the important for those of you who are aging to participate in health yoga. I had a friend that was suffering from arthritis and I told him about using yoga to help ease the pain. Based on my research, yoga can help about 135 different forms of arthritis, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and gout. Yoga positions and postures can help to relieve pain on the joints and make them more flexible, taking away the stiffness and discomfort. I look to my good friend for all the proof I need that this works wonders.

Health yoga is almost like saying the same word twice, as if you do yoga, you improve your health I many ways. As we all get older, we begin looking for ways to become healthier on the inside and out. And the results from the research completed always points to eating right and exercising.

From my research, I have found that yoga is one of the best exercises one can do for their well-being. I like to call it health yoga. Not many people truly realize the benefits from health yoga because they don’t understand the art of it. If you look more into it, you will see that it isn’t your typical exercise routine. Not only is it helping you to become more fit and flexible, but it is allowing the union of your mind and body to become one.

When this is done, it is a very beautiful thing. Personally, I enjoy practicing health yoga because of the results I’ve received. It has improved my posture, alignment and patterns of movement. It allows you to relax and become in sync with yourself. People I know that are practicing yoga have commented on their increased energy levels and peace of mind. A lot of them are a lot happier as well.

Many of the people I know started practicing yoga because their bodies’ were becoming stiff due to the natural aging process. After beginning health yoga, their bodies are more fit and flexible, making them feel young again. If you can start practicing yoga at a young age, I believe the benefits over time will be phenomenal. But health yoga at any age is a definite plus for strength, flexibility and balance.

Physiological Benefits of Yoga

Some of the physiological benefits we can receive from yoga include:
Lower Blood Pressure
Slower Heart Rate
Stable Autonomic Nervous System Equilibrium
Musculoskeletal Flexibility and Joint Range of Motion Increase
Improvements in Reaction Time
Posture Improvement
More Strength and Resiliency
Normalized Weight
Improvement in Balance
Improvement in Immunity
Higher Energy and Endurance
Integrated Functioning of Body Parts
Psychological Benefits of Yoga
Now, what I find most interesting about health yoga is that it doesn’t only benefit the physical body, but the mind as well. Many people look at yoga as a spiritual and mental exercise. Some of the psychological benefits of yoga include:
Decrease in Anxiety and Depression
Improvements in Attention, Learning Efficiency, Social Skills and Memory
Decrease in Hostility
Improvement in Depth Perception and Concentration
Improvement in Mood
Increase in Self-acceptance
If you’re looking to begin your journey to a better you with health yoga, I say go for it! There’s nothing to lose and so much to gain.

Health yoga guards agaijnst disease and heightens your quality of life. There are so many diseases and medications in our day and age that it’s only normal for people who care about their body to search for natural ways to improve their health. With health yoga, we are able to heal our bodies in a spiritual way that actually works. Living in the Western part of the world, we are offered various treatments for the illnesses we have, some of which have horrific side effects. So to me it is always a good idea to look towards nature and within our own bodies to cure ailments.

Stress and trauma are the top causes of different health conditions involving the heart and body. For instance, stress can cause soft tissue in the body to contract and become hard to help protect the body. When too much stress is placed on the body or the individual is traumatized from physical or mental injury, the body will try to limit its movement to prevent further damage. Over time this then causes the individual to become more rigid, stiff and less agile.

In other cases, trauma and stress can cause problems for your mental well-being as well. Emotional stress can bring problems for the mind, body and soul, causing them to narrow and compress. Over time, this compressing begins to constrict the emotional and physical state. So those of you who are feeling heartache and a “pain in your side” or feeling uneasy, it could be due to stress or trauma.

To make more sense, when your mind, body and soul are restricted, you become slower and your health goes downhill. Your body won’t be able to process nutrients, oxygen or even calmness. Now, your body and mind have to overwork, causing you to become ill, fatigued or even depressed and angry.

With health yoga, you are able to relieve your mind, body and soul of its torment from stress and trauma. By practicing postures, or in yoga terms, Asanas and pranayamas (your control of subtle life forces through breathing techniques), you will be able to protect your mind, body and soul’s health and endurance. Health yoga can help to reestablish your emotional, physical and spiritual self back to its normal state and balance.

Being in sync with all aspects of yourself allows you to become a better person overall. Other techniques I find useful are mudras, which are hand gestures and positions, as well as bandhas, which are yoga locks that hold in pranayama (the life force). If this appeals to you, check out these terms on the internet and pursue those links to see how you can benefit from health yoga.

So all-in-all, if you’re looking to try to improve your mind, body, soul and health, try health yoga. Practice the movements and get in sync with your better self.
