Your powers of clairalience aren’t a mainstream topic, but it is a part of the psychic world. It falls into the category along with clairvoyance, clairsentience and clairaudience, among others. It’s perceived to be closely tied with clairsentience. Clairalience is an unusual type of psychic ability. For example, a person may smell an aroma or odor that resembles the scent of a loved one who has passed away. This occurrence takes place right before, while or soon after the loved one has passed. Some believe that this happens in order to warn, prepare or reassure the family and friends that the departed has passed onto the other side. There have been others who witness not so pleasant odors, often called hellish or rancorous odors, like burning sulphur. There have been instances where roses and other heavenly aromas have been noticed as well. The reason for this occurring, some say, is to warn us about the dangers of hell or to reassure the joys of paradise.
Of course, those who smell the hellish scents sometimes believe that it is a sign of the devil, demons and other evil entities. If you’ve watched shows like “Supernatural” or movies like “Constantine” and “The Exorcist”, then you know of the topic involving the not-so-heavenly other realms. Fighting against evil amongst the living isn’t too far-fetched. Catholic priests are known for conducting exorcisms and often use various rituals in order to release the entity the individual is being possessed by.
Being able to smell someone who is still living even when they aren’t close to you is another example of clairalience. Have you ever smelled something familiar that wasn’t close to you? This doesn’t mean cooking food and other stronger odors, but something more faint, yet still noticeable. I’ve known people who smelled the perfumes and colognes of ex-boyfriends, ex-girlfriends and even grandparents and other relatives that are far away or deceased.
You might not really hear much about clairalience because it’s not as dramatic as being able to zoom in on targets such as in the case of remote viewing, or moving an object, such as with psychokinesis. Actually, it can be a very comforting or disturbing ability. Everyone has this ability instilled within them, as we the sense of smell is one of the strongest senses that is tied into memory. So if you feel good, bad or indifferent, it could be an unconscious response to your sense of smell. Something to think about when experiencing your psychic powers.
