Alignment is a word that many of us would not connect to spiritual center. In fact, we would probably associate alignment with what needs to be done in order to make a car safe and less wobbly on the road. In reality, however, the alignment of the spinal column, the very essence of yoga, is also important in achieving a spiritual core or inner peace. Aside from the physical benefits of the proper alignment of the body, you can also derive mental clarity and emotional peace through yoga. Do not think that the yoga positions that you see in the movies or television are merely created to provide discomfort or to achieve flexibility. Every yoga position, whether basic or advanced, is backed by centuries of practice and discipline.
Many people think that yoga is simply following a series of techniques. Although it is true that yoga positions can be achieved physically, these are not really enough to help in the alignment of your spiritual center. In a physical sense, alignment simply means the vertical position of a limb or bone. In the spiritual sense, it means achieving inner peace and harmony. It is important to note, however, that in order for people to achieve complete harmony and peace, they should first achieve physical alignment of their spinal column.
It is without a doubt that yoga is truly useful in letting you find your spiritual center. However, you should also accept the fact that yoga is not an easy thing to master. You need to start from the very basic before you can try to perform more advanced positions. It would be best that you enroll in a yoga class so that you will learn the right moves from a certified instructor. Many people get hurt or injured by doing yoga on their own because they are not doing the positions properly or they are overexerting their muscles. Remember that it is hard to achieve harmony if there is discomfort or pain. Only yoga masters can teach the mind to transcend the pain and discomfort so the body can still achieve inner center.
So how can you achieve proper alignment? Do not think that aligning of the parts of your body is something that is subjective. In reality, there is an underlying scientific basis for the proper alignment of the body. In order for you successfully find your spiritual center, you have to follow yoga positions to the letter. So take it slow and steady and before you know it, you’ll be progressing towards your spiritual center.
