Your mind power and ESP, or extra-sensory perception, go hand in hand in terms of development. The term ESP was originally created by a German researcher named Rudolf Tischner. The term as we know it, however, originates from a psychologist from Duke University called J.B. Rhine. Many of the psychic abilities you may want to develop fall under the category of extra-sensor perception, such as telepathy, clairvoyance, and others.
There are a few ways you can test your mind power using different types of cards. If you want to use a standard deck of playing cards, there are exercises you can do. To boost your all-around ESP abilities, it would be best to try this exercise alone.
First, shuffle a deck of playing cards. Draw the first one without looking at the face of the card. You can place it face down, or you may want to press the card against your forehead, at the third eye. Just be sure not to sit across from a mirror. Note or write down which card you think it is. Be sure not to check what the cards are until after you have completed the activity. Try doing twenty-five cards. Check to see how your guesses correspond to the actual cards. If you did not have many matches, do not feel discouraged. Try seeing if you matched either the number or the suit.
For a first timer, you may even want to check to see if you chose the right color card, red or black. As you practice this exercise more, you are increasingly likely to raise the percentage you guessed or sensed correctly, and your mind power and ESP will likely increase as well.
If you feel intimidated by the variations in a deck of playing cards, you can likely find a specialized deck of cards to suit this purpose, or you can make your own. If you elect the second option, try using the alphabet, or a series of numbers. For those who prefer to buy cards pre-made, you can find flash cards for beginning readers with simple words or pictures on them. This is an easy-to-find, affordable option to consider.
The only downside to these flashcards is that you will need to be familiar with the words or symbols on them beforehand, whereas if you use numbered or lettered cards, you already know the symbols to guess. These card exercises, whether you use standard playing cards or a simpler system, are a great way to exercise your mind power.
